The short answer is yes, you definitely can walk during your round on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4. In fact, it’s encouraged to do so for a better overall experience.
Is Pinehurst Number 2 hard?
The second is one of the most difficult holes on one of the most difficult courses you’ll find. During the open it could stretch to over 500 yards…as a par 4. It’s far too easy to find yourself in the trees or the waste bunker on the left off the tee, and if you are you’ll have a tough time making par.
Why is Pinehurst 2 so difficult?
No 2. is the hardest design at Pinehurst, with turtle-back greens and numerous three-shot holes (the Championship tees play from 7,588 yards). Poor approach shots will bounce away from the flag. But the course’s strategic characteristics, natural beauty and rich history will more than make up for its difficulty.

2 is to contact a member. Although the course is part of Pinehurst Resort, there are members who own property in the area and have access to the Pinehurst Resort courses without having to stay at one of the resort properties. We highly encourage guests to utilize a caddie on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 as they are cart path only. Many golfers enjoy forecaddies on other Pinehurst courses, allowing them to ride in a cart still enjoying the normal caddie services.
