The DSA SA58 is the epitome of a modern day FAL. Had it not been for the trigger issue that plagued the rifle with issues, I would have scored this rifle much higher. Overall the FAL is an awesome design, and it runs remarkably clean due to its piston design.

So it looks like PTR is a durable and reliable choice, but a 91-type rifle from a manufacturer with government/military contracts is better. That’s subjective. The right contracts are reliable and more collectible. I would argue that the difference of reliability between modern PTR and contracts is negligible.
